Leadership Exploration Certificate

Interested in pursuing possible leadership roles in the future? Curious about your own leadership abilities and style? 

During the one academic year Leadership Exploration certificate program through the Office of Faculty Professional Development, you will develop greater self-awareness, knowledge, and skills to set you on the path to positional and non-positional leadership in your chosen area.   

How does it work? Attend six of the eight one-hour workshops during the academic year, and complete the worksheets for each.

December 4 @3pm or 5 @12pm: Cultivating emotional intelligence for leaders April 21 @ 12 or 22 @ 3: Developing a leadership vision and leadership development plan for yourself 

To finalize the certificate process at the end of the academic year, choose one of two paths:  

  1. During a one-on-one coaching session with Dr. Rebecca Pope-Ruark, Director of the Office of Faculty Professional Development, share the completed worksheets and discuss your plans for moving forward with this new awareness. Once you have completed the workshops and coaching session, you will earn a certificate that can be reported in your annual review under the Professional Development requirement. 
  2. Drawing on the completed worksheets, draft a reflection narrative that explores your development and understanding of yourself as a potential leader over the course of the workshops. What big questions did you begin to answer? What stood out to you or what self-awareness did you gain? How would you like to continue your professional development in the future, and what is your plan to do so? Once you submit the completed worksheets and reflection to Rebecca Pope-Ruark in one combined PDF file via email, you will earn a certificate that can be reported in your annual review under the Professional Development requirement.

Career Well-Being Certificate

Cultivating Well-Being is a pillar of the Georgia Tech strategic plan. How do we do that?

Since the COVID pandemic, many in higher education are looking at what it means to create a healthy working environment. Taking care of yourself through intentional practices and activities as well as sustaining conversations around the career health and well-being of colleagues is important to the future of faculty work. During this one academic year Career Well-Being certificate program through the Office of Faculty Professional Development, you will develop skills to manage your career and well-being and to take a leadership role in larger conversations on these topics at the institution.  

How does it work? Attend six of the eight one-hour workshops during the academic year, and complete the worksheets for each.
